Mayor Luft Orders Public Access to Riverfront Closed
In response to the growing spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and following several complaints to the City of groups of individuals congregating on the Riverfront in violation of the Governor’s Executive Order No. 2020-10, the City of Pekin will be closing public access to the Riverfront, (the area from the Court St. Entrance all the way North under the Pekin Bridge to Caroline st.) by order of the Mayor pursuant to Title 1, Chapter 5A, Section 3 of the Pekin City Code, effective Friday April 3, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.
The boat launch will remain open, and the public may still access the Riverfront for fishing, as long as social distancing guidelines are being followed.
