Sandbags Available for National City Residents
Need sandbags for the next rainstorm?
In preparation of the rain this week the City has made sandbags available to the public to help protect homes, neighborhoods, streets, and other properties from flooding and soil erosion problems.
10 Free sandbags are available to National City residents (with proof of ID) at National City Fire Stations #31 (2333 Euclid Avenue) and #34 (343 East 16th Street) from 8 a.m-6 p.m.
Free sand is also available while supplies last in the parking lot just north of the Boys and Girls Club on 'D' Avenue next to Kimball Park. You will need to bring a shovel to fill the sandbags. No shovel- no problem- grab an empty milk jug. National City Fire Captain Stiles demonstrates how to make your own shovel.
