Donna Gomez and Justin Hayworth enter the Big 5 on Yucaipa Blvd with their faces covered only to steal property

LOCATION: 34500 block of Yucaipa Blvd., Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Donna Gomez, age 48 a resident of Yucaipa
Justin Hayworth, age 35 a resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Big 5 Sporting Goods
SUMMARY: On April 5th, at approximately 5:57 p.m. two subjects, later identified as Gomez and Hayworth, entered Big 5 with bandanas covering their faces. In spite of the current COVID-19 precautions, employees recognized the two from prior problems they had caused at the store and suspected their faces were covered to afford them the opportunity to steal items.
Employees watched as Hayworth and Gomez stole items by putting them on and wearing them out of the store, and also by concealing them in a large bag. Deputies, who had been alerted by store employees, were waiting outside and immediately detained both suspects.
Following their arrests, a search of Gomez revealed her to be in possession of about ¾ ounce of methamphetamine and over $200 in cash. The stolen merchandise was returned to the store and both subjects were booked at West Valley Detention Center.
