The Mill Valley Police Department responded to the area to check the welfare of the child. Police officers were unable to locate the child in the reported area, and requested assistance from the Mill Valley Fire Department and Marin County Sheriff’s Office open space deputies to assist in searching the area. Approximately 10 law enforcement personnel and 4 firefighters conducted a search of the immediate area.
The search included door-to-door contacts of residents along Corte Madera Avenue and W. Blithedale Avenue. Several citizens in the area were contacted while walking or riding their bicycles and were provided the description of the child. We were not able to obtain any further information regarding a child being missing, lost or unattended.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue division was contacted and approximately 50+ volunteers responded to Mill Valley. MCSO SAR provided valuable assistance and a more extensive search of the area, which included the creek bed of Corte Madera Creek, and all steps, lanes, and paths in the area.
After approximately seven hours of searching, and notifications in Mill Valley, the efforts were suspended for the night. Follow-up will continue Wednesday morning for any other possible information. No further searches will take place at this time.
Currently we have no reports of any outstanding, missing, lost, or unaccounted for children in Mill Valley. On Tuesday, April 7th, around 5:00 pm the Mill Valley Police Department received a call from a citizen stating they observed an unattended child walking in the 200 block of Corte Madera Avenue. According to the reporting party, the child did not appear to be in distress or lost. The child was described as a white male juvenile, about 4-5 years old, with blonde hair, wearing a blue plaid shirt.The Mill Valley Police Department responded to the area to check the welfare of the child.
