East Windsor Township Update on Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Mercer County has reported, as of April 8, 2020, there have been a total of 992 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases to date, and 28 deaths in Mercer County. All active cases are either at home self-isolating or admitted to the hospital. The State of New Jersey reported 3,021 additional Confirmed COVID-19 Cases for a current total of 47,437 cases, and 272 additional deaths for a total of 1,504 COVID-19 related deaths statewide. STATE OF NEW JERSEY UPDATES
Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 118 on April 7, 2020 requiring "All State Parks and Forests and county parks to close to the public" effective April 7, at 8 P.M. The Executive Order states that it includes "all State parks, forests, recreation areas, historic sites, marinas, golf courses, botanical gardens, and other lands, waters, and facilities assigned to the State Park Service." In issuing the order, Governor Murphy stated "public interaction and gatherings at county and state parks throughout the state have been observed in a manner that is inconsistent with and threatens to undermine the social mitigation strategies necessary to limit the spread of COVID-19," and that "public usage of State parks and Forests, as well as county parks, in anticipated to increase during the upcoming spring holiday season and beyond as the weather continually improves outdoors.
NOTE: EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP PARKS, PATHWAYS AND TRAILS will continue to remain OPEN subject to RESTRICTIONS, and we will monitor for compliance and any need for further local actions. Park visitors are reminded to comply with all social distancing requirements.
PERMITTED ACTIVITIES: The only permitted activites in Township parks, pathways and trails are walking, running, bicycling or engaging in outdoor activities with immediate family, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners.
REQUIRED RESTRICTIONS: Playground equipment areas within the parks are CLOSED and have been fenced off to prohibit their use. Group close-contact activities, including games of basketball and soccer, which do not comply State social distancing requirements, ARE PROHIBITED.
Residents are asked to call the police department non-emergency line at (609) 448-5678 ext. 0 to report any observed non-compliance issues.
Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 119 today, April 8 extending the public health emergency declared on March 9 for an additional 30 days.
Governor Murphy issued Executive Order No. 120 moving the State's Primary Election from June 2 to Tuesday, July 7. At this time no decision has been made if the election will be in person or Vote-by-Mail only.
