DAILY UPDATE FOR APRIL 8, 2020

Hello Petaluma,

Today’s Daily Update focuses on resources and ideas for business owners whose businesses are closed and or impacted by the Shelter-in-Place order. While critical for our community health, the Shelter-in-Place order has abruptly stopped business for many of our valued shops, restaurants and services.  This is hard to manage, even for the most creative and resourceful businesses.  We offer below resources, inspiration, and support.  We also offer updates on COVID-19 data, alternate care sites, and the importance of maintaining your emotional health during Shelter-in-Place.

OOH LA LUXE SHARES IDEAS FOR BRICK & MORTAR RETAILERS DURING COVID-19

Ooh La Luxe Video

A Downtown Petaluma boutique, Ooh La Luxe, is finding ways to sell products and improve their business during the mandatory Shelter-in-Place closure. In this video, owners (and twin sisters) Michelle Wilson Bien and Cristina Wilson Hudlin share their top ideas and strategies to stay connected to customers and keep their business alive during these unusual times.  CLICK HERE to watch.

Is your business finding ways to adapt to Shelter-in-Place? We’d love to hear from you and share your ideas! We are putting together feature videos, like the one you see here, and are looking for content from our community. If you’d like to participate, please contact [email protected].

CARES ACT FOR BUSINESS

Several programs in the federal Coronavirus relief bill (aka, the CARES Act) are designed to help small businesses. You may have read news reports on the bumpy roll-out of these programs. City staff, the Small Business Development Center, and local banks are working together to help our community’s businesses understand and apply these programs, despite the challenges. Please contact [email protected] for information on ways we can help.

ALTERNATE CARE SITES

The County has partnered with Sonoma State University (SSU) and Petaluma HealthCenter to establish an Alternate Care Site (ACS) on the SSU Campus. Alternate Care Sites allow healthcare facilities to have adequate space for serious COVID-19 cases and other patients requiring more acute medical care. CLICK HERE to read the full press release.

**CLARIFICATION TO YESTERDAY’S EMAIL**

Yesterday, we shared information from the County of Sonoma on homeless services being made available during the COVID-19 crisis. To clarify, the 10 trailers established to house 20-25 individuals are located at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, not in Petaluma.
