Mayor's Announcement on COVID-19 Related Deaths
An Announcement from the Office of the Mayor
Death of Haledon Residents from Complications of COVID-19
April 9, 2020
Our Haledon Community:
I regret to inform my neighbors of the deaths of four (4) residents, two males and two females ranging in ages from 39-89, from complications of COVID-19.
I extend my condolences to the families of the deceased. Our hearts ache for them during this difficult and unprecedented time.
Borough officials received word of these deaths yesterday, April 8, but without confirmation as to WHEN and WHY these residents died. Today, we can confirm that all four of the deaths occurred in MARCH at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in the City of Paterson.
Rest assured that we will continue to pursue the reason behind the delay in reporting these deaths to both the Borough and the County. This appears to be a state-wide issue. My primary concern, however, is for the safety of our community. That responsibility includes keeping our residents updated with information as we receive it.
Please continue to abide by all social distancing restrictions and proper hygiene rules. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed and they will help save lives.
Stay safe.
Sincerely,
Haledon Mayor Domenick Stampone, Esq.
