Narrative:
On April 7, 2020, at approximately 1400 hours, members of the Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit went to the 8400 block of Neath Street and conducted a probation search on (A) Jacob Aydelotte.  Aydelotte is a Post Release Offender, supervised by the Ventura County Probation Agency, for possessing a firearm and a controlled substance.

A Post Release Offender is a person who was released early from prison under the California Public Safety Realignment Act of 2011 or AB 109.  In 2011, Governor Brown passed the bill which allowed for certain nonviolent and non-serious offenders to be released early from prison and supervised by county probation officers.

During the search, Aydelotte was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber firearm and ammunition.  He was subsequently arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for 29800(a)(1) P.C. – Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, 30305(a)(1) P.C. – Prohibited Person from Possessing a Firearm Possess Ammunition, 27545 P.C. – Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm and a PROS hold.

This event marked the second time in less than a year Aydelotte was arrested for similar offenses.

The first offense occurred on June 14, 2019, in the city of Oxnard.  Aydelotte was stopped and contacted while driving a vehicle.  Pursuant to his probation search terms, a probation search was conducted on the vehicle.  Inside the vehicle, a handgun and ammunition were located.  At the time, Aydelotte was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail for numerous felony and misdemeanor gun charges.  Aydelotte served his probation violation time and was later released after posting bail.

The Ventura County Post Release Offender Supervision Unit is comprised of Deputy Probation Officers from the Ventura County Probation Agency, a Ventura Police Department Officer, a Simi Valley Police Department Officer and a Deputy Sheriff with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
