Message to the Community from Chief of Police Kelly Gordon

The men and women of the Monterey Park Police Department are committed to serving the community through this pandemic. Our first responders have the same concerns that many of you have as a result of this situation. Officers are still responding to your calls but taking appropriate precautions. You will see officers wearing additional personal protective equipment including face masks, gloves and eye protection for their safety and yours. We are also reaching out to our unsheltered homeless and working with our local partners to link them to appropriate services. Your first responders continue to faithfully serve the community to ensure your safety and the safety of the entire community.

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week begins today. The men and women of our dispatch center work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure emergency resources are sent where they are needed. Over the last several weeks they have been the voice that our community hears to calm them and answer questions during this situation. I want to personally take a moment to honor their dedication to service and say THANK YOU for the job they do.

I want to thank the community of Monterey Park for following social distancing, staying home, and wearing face coverings when obtaining essential services. I also want to thank the community for all the kind words and support for your local first responders during these difficult times. Please continue to protect yourself and family by following the health orders and together we will overcome COVID-19.
