Governor Offers View of the Future of California

During his news conference today, Governor Newsom outlined his goals to reopen California and a roadmap to recovering from the ongoing Shelter in Place Order.  In his address, the governor likened recovery as a dimmer switch which will slowly be adjusted to open more areas back up.  While the state has done a good job of flattening the curve, residents are urged to continue sheltering in place order as a means of keeping the coronavirus from spreading. The roadmap referenced in the news conference can be found at

Have You Got ‘Danville Spirit?’
As we all continue to shelter in place, it is good to be able to focus on the positives. With that thought in mind, the Town of Danville this week has started up a new page on our website called Danville Spirit www.danville.ca.gov/danvillespirit. On this page, we will be sharing photos and stories of ways that our community has shown its generous spirit in taking care of one another.  We encourage everyone to send your photos and your stories to Public Information Officer Geoff Gillette at [email protected].  You can also post about your experiences on social media and tag the Town.  Twitter is @danvilleINFO, facebook is @Danvilleca and Instagram is @townofdanvilleca. Remember to use the hashtag #danvillespirit

We will be taking several of these stories and including them in our next Live Locally Quarterly Newsletter, which will be coming out in July.  Show your spirit, Danville!

Residents Reminded to Take Census

In early March, Danville residents would have received information in the mail from the U.S. Census Bureau on the 2020 Census. With many people staying home during the Shelter in Place Order, now is the perfect time to take the census if you have not already.

There are three ways to complete the census:

1.         Online:  using your census invitation go to my2020census.gov to begin
2.         Phone:  for English speakers, call 844-330-2020. If your primary language is other than English consult the census website at https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond/responding-by-phone.html
3.         Mail: fill out your questionnaire and mail it in
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, census takers will not be going to homes to follow up before June 2020. Census is expected to be finished by October 31, 2020.  For more information on the census, go to www.2020census.gov
