Homicide Detectives arrested Jason Maston on murder charges related to a shooting on March 30th

LOCATION: 16500 block of Fir Street, Hesperia
VICTIM: Valentin Aparicio, 36 years old, resident of Hesperia
SUSPECT: Jason Maston, 47 years old, resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On Monday, March 30, 2020 at about 12:15 a.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a call of shots heard in the 16500 block of Fir Street. Upon arrival, deputies located a white pickup truck disabled in the bushes with a male victim inside suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim, Valentin Aparicio, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division - Homicide Detail responded and are conducting the investigation. During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned that Valentin Aparicio and the suspect, Jason Maston, were involved in some illegal narcotics business. There was conflict between the two men regarding the theft of narcotics and Aparicio went to Maston’s home to confront him. Aparicio arrived at the home, there was an exchange of gunfire between Maston and Aparicio, and Aparicio was shot.
On April 14, 2020, Homicide Detectives arrested Jason Maston in Hesperia and booked him at High Desert Detention Center for murder. He is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
