Stolen vehicle investigation leads to man being arrested for possession of deadly weapons.
On the late afternoon of Wednesday, April 15th, 2020, officers with the Stallion Springs Police Department received information from the Tehachapi Police Department of a possible reported stolen vehicle in the 19000 block of Mustang Drive. An SSPD officer located the reported stolen vehicle parked in a driveway at a residence in that area.
Due to the street not having an outlet, the officer drove to another location and maintained surveillance while officers of the Tehachapi Police Department investigated the vehicle theft report. Hours later, it was determined the theft of the vehicle was a non-criminal, civil issue. An SSPD officer made arrangements to meet up with the reporting party in this case. The reporting party requested the officer to standby while he attempted to recover his vehicle.
At approximately 10:15 PM, the reporting party and the officer drove to the residence in the 19000 block of Mustang Drive. During the course of the investigation the officer discovered the reporting party Duncan Norwood, age 42 from Bakersfield, had a suspended license and an active misdemeanor narcotics warrant issued for his arrest. The SSPD officer then searched Norwood’s vehicle and located three large “Billy clubs” inside.
Duncan Norwood was arrested for his warrant and for the open charges of possession of a deadly weapon, driving with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
