South Bay Rapid crews will begin paving the final section of the dedicated transit guideway in April. This will require overnight construction work and intersection closures along East Palomar Street at Medical Center Drive/Brandywine Avenue and at Davies Drive.

During this work, motorists will have restricted use of the intersections. Right turns in all directions and through traffic on East Palomar Street will be allowed.

Crews anticipate closing the Davies Drive and East Palomar Street intersection Saturday, April 18, at 4 p.m. through Monday, April 20, at 4 p.m. Crews will then begin closures on the Medical Center Drive/Brandywine Avenue and East Palomar Street intersection on the evening of Monday, April 20, at 5 p.m. through Tuesday, April 21, at 4 p.m.

Motorists are advised to access Telegraph Canyon Road and Olympic Parkway via Heritage Road.

All reasonable steps will be taken to minimize impacts to nearby residents, businesses, and travelers. We appreciate your patience during construction. Please note, construction schedules are subject to change.

SANDAG anticipates that the transit guideway construction will conclude by the end of April, and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will begin driver training in the transit guideway. The transit guideway is anticipated to ­be in full service in May. However, landscaping and irrigation work along the south parkway from Gould Avenue to Heritage Road will continue through summer 2020.
