Enforcement of Public Health Order in Yolo County

The Yolo County Public Health Officer has ordered all Yolo County residents to shelter in place until May 1, 2020. Furthermore, all travel in Yolo County is limited to carrying out essential business. The Yolo County Law Enforcement Agencies continue to remind people that compliance with these orders is essential to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

Although we have seen substantial compliance with the orders, law enforcement has seen an increase in the number of complaints regarding large gatherings and businesses failing to follow the rules established by the Public Health Officer. These violations threaten our communities and we are asking all residents to please do everything they can to comply with the shelter in place order until this crisis is contained. Initially our efforts primarily focused on educating our communities regarding the importance of following the restrictions. We would like to remind everyone that failing to follow these orders may result in arrest or citation with a punishment of up to 90 days in jail and/or a fine between $50 and $1,000. Each day of violation is a separate offense and may result in additional jail time and/or fines.

We are aware that the shelter in place orders are disruptive to our daily lives and businesses, and may also result in severe loss to everyone. Nevertheless, following these orders will reduce risk and save lives; we continue to ask everyone to help us accomplish that.
