April 17, 2020 Knowlton Township Coronavirus Update
This evening there are 535 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Warren County, 69 recoveries, and 40 deaths (29 of them associated with long-term care facilities). There are 8 cases in Knowlton Township.
Locally:
The North Warren Regional High School Robotics Team has made more than 400 computer generated 3-D face masks for donation to local hospitals. Fantastic job, North Warren Regional!
The Warren County Covid Testing Center will be open Tuesday and Friday next week. The site has tested approximately 200 Warren County residents so far, and 33% of those tests have come back positive for Covid-19. (For comparison, the state of NJ is averaging about 45% positive.)
On the State Level:
Many residents have experienced difficulty filing for unemployment through the state system. Tens of thousands of callers have been met with dead air, or a dial tone, because the system was beyond its capacity. This is due to an unprecented number of unemployment claims. Late this week the state expanded the capacity of the call centers to provide additional inquiry lines and they also updated their programming to speed processing of the claims. Claims are being backdated, so anyone who has had or continues to have trouble getting through will not lose a week of benefits.
