Dear residents:
The generator powering the temporary bypass pump at the end of Maple Avenue to Chestnut Avenue has been shut off as the lines have been cleared and cleaned today. The pumps and hoses will be removed tomorrow morning and an assessment of recommended improvements will be provided to staff. As previously stated, this problem revealed a manhole cover that was 18” below the surface. This undoubtedly hampered maintenance to the line over the years, and will require further investigation to determine if the Village can recover any costs incurred fixing the problem. We still have work to do, but I am glad we did not discover a major collapse. Thanks again for your patience and cooperation during this time.
