Deputies arrested Henry Allen Smith for grand theft; a second suspect is still outstanding

SUMMARY: On Monday, April 20, 2020, at about 7:55 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Station were dispatched to the Highland Community Park about a theft that occurred overnight. Two unknown suspects stole over $3,000.00 in a temporary chain-link fence that was placed around the playground area. The incident was captured on video surveillance, and one suspect left the location with the stolen fence in a Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup, pulling a black tandem axle utility trailer.
Deputy Michael Kling, assigned to the Highland Multiple Enforcement Team, recognized one of the suspects as Henry Allen Smith from previous contacts. On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, Smith was interviewed regarding his involvement in the crime. At the conclusion of the interview, Smith was arrested for PC 487(a), Grand Theft, and booked into the Central Detention Center.
In compliance with the statewide Emergency Bail Schedule, issued by the California Judicial Council, bail for most misdemeanor and felony offenses must be set at $0. Due to this criteria, Smith was released from custody later the same day following the booking process.

The second suspect and vehicle/trailer are still outstanding. The second suspect is described as a white male adult, over 6’ tall, and last seen wearing all black clothing with work boots. The suspect was last seen driving a two-tone (light on top and dark on bottom) 1997 to 2004 Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup with a chrome grill, pulling a black tandem axle utility trailer.
