Deputies conducted a rape investigation & after contacting & interviewing the suspect, William Woods, he was arrested

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, November 21, 2019, a deputy from the Highland Police Department conducted a rape investigation that allegedly occurred in the YMCA parking lot the day prior. The victim reported William McKinley Woods picked her up near her residence in San Bernardino and they drove to the YMCA parking lot in the city of Highland to talk. During the contact, Woods initiated sexual contact against the victim’s will. Woods held the victim’s arms and forcibly raped her in the vehicle, which placed her in fear. Woods drove the victim near her residence and dropped her off.
Woods was interviewed regarding the allegation and was arrested on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 for PC 261(a)(2), rape by force or fear. He was booked into the Central Detention Center, with a bail set at $250,000.00. He is scheduled to be arraigned in the Superior Court of San Bernardino on April 24, 2020. Woods was known to the victim and investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
