City of Alhambra to Open COVID-19 Testing Site
for Residents of Alhambra

Alhambra, CA — The City of Alhambra, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are working with Vital Medical Services, to open a Drive-Up and Walk-Up Testing site to allow more Alhambra residents get tested for COVID-19.

“Testing is crucial in our effort to save lives,” said Mayor Ross Maza. “We are grateful for HUD’s funding to offer the free screenings in Alhambra, to allow for more access for symptomatic residents, so that we can work together to combat the spread of this deadly virus.”

The testing site, located at Second Street south of Main across from Alhambra High School, will be open BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., from May 4 – May 29, as long as supplies last.

Residents must fill out a prescreening questionnaire on the City’s website at www.cityofalhambra.org/resources/coronavirus-testing.

The eligibility for screening is as follows:
• Residents who are exhibiting symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath or who are subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period due to a confirmed COVID-19 exposure (with more than 7 days of quarantine remaining) regardless of immigration status.

Priority is given to:
• Those with symptoms who have underlying chronic health conditions
• Those with symptoms who are 65 and older
• Residents who are low income

The site will be staffed and run by Vital Medical Services. Patients will be screened with a nasal swab that is administered by a licensed health care professional. The testing process takes between 5 and 10 minutes but waiting times may vary. Results will be returned within 12-48 hours.
