RESOLUTION #110-2020

 
AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION OF THE GRACE PERIOD FOR 2020 SECOND QUARTER TAXES AND WATER
 
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey has been hit by a devastating pandemic and in an effort to facilitate the payment of the second quarter property taxes and water rents in a timely fashion, Governor Murphy has signed Executive Order 130 extending the grace period during which no interest will be charged; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Municipal Council of the Borough of Beach Haven that an interest free period, pursuant to Executive Order 130 signed by Governor Murphy, has been extended to the first (1s calendar day of June 2020 and is authorized pursuant to RS 54:4-67, (PL 1994 Chapter 72).  Payments received for second quarter tax and second quarter water rents on or after June 1, 2020 will be charged interest back to the statutory due date of May 1, 2020.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution is to be effective for the second installment of the 2020 tax and water rents and does not affect past or future tax quarters. All previously established interest rates will remain unchanged.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Division of Local Government within three days of adoption.
