Stay at Home Order extended until May 28
Executive Orders are being amended as Governor Whitmer continues to evaluate what is best for the public health of all residents. The Harper Woods Department of Public Safety would like to advise residents that Governor Whitmer’s Stay Home Stay Safe Order has been extended until May 28th. Considering this, the City Administration has decided to cancel the Memorial Day Observation at Johnston Memorial Park. However, manufacturing jobs with Ford, GM and Chrysler will resume work on May 11th. Construction jobs have resumed as of May 7th and are valid if the contractors have obtained a permit from Harper Woods.
The Public Safety Department would like to thank the community for its support of our department during the outbreak. This includes donating supplies and meals, but most importantly, following the safe distancing precautions and staying at home as ordered which has limited fire and police personnel to unnecessary exposures. Due to you continuing to follow the orders, WE have been able to be there for you in emergency situations as they occur. We have been educating on social distance measures, but unfortunately have had to issue several citations for violations of Executive Order’s. The fine for these types of violations are $1000.00. Maintain your 6 ft. distance from others in public, do not gather in groups, cover your coughs and sneezes, wear a mask when in an enclosed building, wash your hands frequently and disinfect surfaces touched. Please continue to follow the executive orders.
