Last night, May 7, 2020, at approximately
9:00 p.m., Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) officers responded to calls of gunshots heard in a residential area of Towne Street. Upon arrival, officers learned an altercation and shooting had taken place during a party at a house on the 800 block of Towne Street. There were no party participants at the location when officers arrived.
One victim, a 26-year-old man, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was located at a nearby hospital. No other victims were identified and no arrests have been made. This is an active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact CMPD Detective Peters at
