Overview:  A cold front moving through the region today will bring scattered showers and potential for isolated thunderstorms this afternoon into early evening.
 
Potential Hazards and Impacts:
Isolated Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Possible:

• Hazards and Impacts:
  • Cloud to ground lightning.
  • Brief wind gusts of 40-50 mph. This could cause damage to tent structures.
    • There is a low probability for a storm to produce 60 mph wind 
  • Small hail.

• Timing/Location: Between 1 and 7pm today
• Location: Threat for a thunderstorm across the entire local Tri-State area, with the greatest threat of a strong to severe thunderstorm across the Lower Hudson Valley, Southern Connecticut and Long Island.
• Scenario: Overall the chance of a thunderstorm moving over your location this afternoon is low (around a 20% chance), but if one develops there is potential for the Hazards and Impacts described above to be experienced.
