Updates to Quarantine and Isolation Orders - Town of Danville Update

Town of Danville Update:  5.14.20

Updated Mass Isolation Order

A new order from the Contra Costa Health Officer has increased the amount of time a person should spend in isolation following the onset of symptoms  or a positive COVID-19 test to 10 days.

Any person determined to have COVID-19 should:
  1. Isolate themselves in their home or other residence
  2. Follow all requirements listed in Home Isolation Instructions at https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/if-you-are-sick
  3. Tell close contacts to isolate themselves. Close contacts are defined as those who were near the infected individual during the 48 hours prior to symptoms appearing or (if displaying no symptoms) a positive test for COVID-19

Updated Mass Quarantine Order

A new order from the Contra Costa Health Officer has further clarified the definition of ‘close contact’ in regard to the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

Under the new order, a person is considered to have been in close contact if they were within 6 feet of the case for fifteen minutes or longer while the case was still infectious. The infectious period is considered from 48 hours prior to the appearance of symptoms, or (if no symptoms are present) a positive COVID-19 test.  Some examples include:
  1. Live in, have visited, or stayed overnight at the case’s residence
  2. Work within six feet of the case
  3. Provide or provided care to the case without wearing appropriate PPE

Individuals seeking further information on these orders can go to the Health Services website at www.coronavirus.cchealth.org

Protect Your Parcels from Porch Pirates

With many members of the community at home under the Shelter in Place Order, a lot of e-commerce is going on.  Which means there are quite a few package deliveries happening in many neighborhoods.  The Danville Police Department wants to remind everyone to be aware of when packages are being delivered and do your best to either bring them in when they arrive or, if you’re going to be away, have a friend, relative or neighbor bring them in for you.

Property crimes are still the main crime in Danville, and package theft can literally be done in seconds.  Rather than leave your parcels out, inviting thieves to take them, bring them in as soon as possible.

County Seeks Employees for Contact Tracing

Contra Costa Health Services is currently hiring employees to do contract tracing investigations related to COVID-19 cases. Employment will be on a project basis with the employment ending once the project is completed.  Information on the jobs can be found on the county’s website at https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/contact-tracing

EBMUD Recommendations for Reopening Businesses

As businesses begin planning for a reopening after the current Shelter in Place Order, East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is offering suggestions to ensure a safe reopening.  The key suggestion to maintaining good water quality once a business reopens is in flushing your water system.  Flushing the system ensures that water is fresh, and free of microorganisms.  Information on how to flush a system can be found at https://www.danville.ca.gov/766/EBMUD-Update
