On May 15, 2020, at 12:25am, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies from the Mojave substation were dispatched to a robbery which had just occurred at the Fastrip in Mojave located in the 2300 block of Hwy 58.  The victim reported he was robbed at gunpoint by a black male.  The victim struggled with the suspect for the handgun the suspect was using and a shot went off, but no one was hit.  The suspect fled in a gold colored vehicle southbound on Hwy 14 with an additional occupant.  A deputy responding from Rosamond, along with a California Highway Patrol officer located the vehicle traveling on Hwy 14, approximately 5 miles south of Mojave.  They conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested two occupants.  They recovered a handgun and the victim’s property from the vehicle.  The handgun was later determined to have been stolen out of California City.
The suspect in the robbery was identified as Vincent Owens (22 y/o).  While he was going through the booking process, Owens attempted to punch the arresting deputy and had to be restrained.  Owens was booked for multiple felony charges including robbery, felon in possession of a handgun, resisting arrest and a felony no-bail warrant.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brooklyn Fowler (19 y/O).  She was arrested for conspiracy, being an accessory and possession of a controlled substance.
