Wesley Wayne Saukitoga, a 36 year old East Palo Alto resident, has been arrested and booked into County Jail for attempted murder.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at about 10:50 pm, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety received a report of a shooting that occurred near the 300 block of Orchard Avenue. Sunnyvale DPS Officers arrived on scene and located an adult victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is recovering. 

Sunnyvale DPS detectives developed information identifying Wesley Wayne Saukitoga, a 36-year-old East Palo Alto resident, as a suspect in the shooting. On Tuesday, May 19, suspect Saukitoga was located at an apartment  in the city of Hayward. Sunnyvale DPS detectives, with the assistance of the Hayward Police Department SWAT Team, took Saukitoga into custody without incident.  

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety would like to thank the Hayward Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.  

Wesley Wayne Saukitoga was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder.
