“Local Flooding Damage Assessments”
Morris, IL – The Grundy County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has announced that damage assessments will be conducted Friday May 22nd and Tuesday May 26th through Friday May 29th.
Residents that experienced flood related damage to their home or business as a result of the Friday May16-19th 2020 Flooding are encouraged to contact the emergency management agency at (815) 941-3212.
The hours of operation for damage information collection will be 9:00am to 3:00pm each day.
Although on the surface it appears the county will not qualify for assistance, the purpose of the call center is to collect information from affected residents to determine if the county will meet the threshold to receive federal assistance.
Callers will be asked specific information regarding their loss. There is no financial assistance that the county can provide. The damage information collected will be forwarded to the State of Illinois to see if the residents of the county will qualify for any type of federal assistance program.
People affected by the flash flood event are encouraged to send before, during and after photos of damaged areas to damage@grundyeoc.org, please place your complete address in the subject line of each e-mail sent.
To avoid being scammed, residents are advised to make sure that any contractors they use have a reputable background.
