An off-duty deputy witnessed Joshua Rodgers assaulting and threatening a victim and stopped the assault

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Criminal Threats
LOCATION: 23000 block of Lake Drive, Community of Crestline
SUSPECT: Joshua Rodgers, 42 years old, resident of Crestline
SUMMARY:
On May 21, 2020, Deputies from the Twin Peaks Station were dispatched to 23000 Block Of Lake Drive in the community of Crestline reference two subjects fighting. As deputies were enroute, and off-duty deputy witnessed the incident, and was providing important updates to responding deputies. The off-duty deputy witnessed Rodgers throw a glass bottle towards the victim, and told the victim he was going to kill him. The off-duty deputy believed Rodgers was going to cause great bodily injury to the victim or kill him, and presented a serious risk to the public. The off-duty deputy detained Rodgers at gun point until responding personnel arrived.
Rodgers was taken into custody without incident and arrested for PC 245(a)(1); assault with a deadly weapon, and 422(a); criminal threats. He was booked at the Central Detention Center where he is being held on a $50,000. bail.
