INCIDENT: Street Racing Enforcement
LOCATION: City of Rialto
SYNOPSIS:
Law enforcement has seen an increase in street racing throughout Southern California, posing a risk to public safety. Additionally, the region has experienced street takeovers where groups of street racers stop freeways and streets in order to hold illegal races. This past Memorial Weekend, the Rialto Police Department in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force conducted a street racing enforcement operation in the city of Rialto. The operation resulted in 309 vehicle stops, 3 DUI arrests, 9 reckless driving and warrant arrest, 216 citations and 27 vehicles impounded.
“This type of criminal activity will not be tolerated and the Rialto Police Department will continue to have operations like this to ensure the community’s safety,” said Rialto Police Chief Mark Kling.
