County Modifies Health Order
LA County officials have issued a modified health order allowing churches, stores and other uses to open with restrictions. Among the key provisions:
--Allows the use of shared pools, hot tubs and saunas in multi-unit residential complexes or part of a homeowner's association.
--Allows non-essential office-based businesses to open; this includes faith-based office facilities.
--Allows in-store retail to open at 50% capacity; this includes outdoor malls (swap meets). Indoor malls and shopping centers, defined as a building with seven or more retail establishments, can open at 50% capacity. This means the mall as a whole can open at 50% capacity, not each store at 50% capacity.
--Allows people to obtain in-person faith-based counseling services if it cannot be practiced remotely and is limited to 10 or fewer individuals.
--Allows in-person faith-based services, limited to 25% capacity or a maximum of 100 persons, whichever is lower.
--Allows in-person protests if limited to 25% of the area's capacity, with social distancing protocols in place.
