Beginning Monday, June 22^nd through Friday, June 26^th, Prairieland Disposal will perform a Summer Cleanup of Bulk Items for City of McHenry residents. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the bulk item restrictions imposed during the shelter in place order, Prairieland Disposal and City Council have approved of a week-long summer cleanup program of unlimited bulk items at the curb. All bulk items must be at the curb by 7:00 AM on your regular refuse pickup day the week of June 22, 2020. No callbacks will be made.
 
Prairieland Disposal’s bulk item collection policy remains in effect. General Guidelines are as follows:

• A bulk item is considered an item the resident would take with them if moving out of the residence, and the item must be able to be carried (not dragged) to the curb.
• Bulk items must weigh less than 50 pounds and be no longer than 5 feet.
• Mattresses and toilets will be accepted but must be bagged or wrapped in plastic.
• Rolls of carpeting will be accepted but must be taped or tied, wrapped in plastic, and weigh less than 50 pounds and no more than 5 feet long, 2 feet in diameter.

 
UNACCEPTABLE BULK ITEMS:

• Construction debris and construction materials (i.e. lumber, drywall, cabinets, glass windows, doors, rocks, roofing and siding materials, etc.)
• Appliances (i.e. freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washing machines, dryers, water heaters, etc.)
• Electronic waste or e-waste (i.e. computer equipment, televisions, etc.)
• Household hazardous waste (i.e. gasoline, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, pool chemicals, paint, paint thinner, propane tanks, etc.)
• Any type of metal post, pipe, swing set, antenna, etc.
• Yard Waste
• No tires of any kind
