Burn Permit Suspension affecting Houston

The Mat-Su Area Forestry station has issued a burn permit suspension for the Susitna Valley effective immediately today, Thursday, May 28 due to a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service from 1-9 p.m. today for hot, dry, and windy conditions. The affected sub areas are the Parks Highway corridor from Houston north. That includes the Hurricane Corridor, Mat-Su North and Mat-Su West sub areas. The use of burn barrels, burning of brush piles and burning of lawns is prohibited during a burn permit suspension. 

 
Burning remains open in the Mat-Su Core and Mat-Su East sub areas. The only areas affected are those properties accessed off of Zero Lake Road and all properties and streets north of Zero Lake Road.
