Advisory

May 28, 2020 Coronavirus update from Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GRASSO ON COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS

Thursday, May 28, 2020

The Cure is US – Burr Ridge moves to Phase 3 Tomorrow!

Tomorrow we enter Phase 3 of Restore Illinois. All retail businesses can now open in compliance with new requirements. Start shopping and dining in Burr Ridge – safely. The tents are up around County Line Square, Village Center Green, Stix & Stones, and at Eddie Merlot’s, while Falco’s tent will be up Saturday. We open our outdoor dining with Patti’s and Kirsten’s first thing tomorrow morning at 8:00am. Outdoor dining will be open as each participating restaurant opens. Be aware that not all restaurants are taking reservations and offering full tableside service-please ask at the front counter of any restaurant you wish to frequent about their offerings. I will “kick-off” the evening outdoor dining at 6:00pm with my face covering on. Let’s welcome in the New Normal.

The Governor today also stated that the earliest that our Region could enter Phase 4 is on June 26. Phase 4 would allow for education and child-care to open, including all summer programs, indoor dining, health club openings, gatherings of up to 50 people. I will keep you posted as updates on moving to Phase 4 become available.

Burr Ridge’s COVID-19 case count rose by two to 84. There were 104 deaths, over 1,500 new cases and over 25,000 tests administered in the last 24 hours. DuPage County’s positivity rate continues to trend downwards, but all of us need to remain vigilant. Face coverings are the most effective barrier to the virus. Wear them when you are near others. Please continue to follow good common sense by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, and washing hands with hot soapy water. Remember the Mayor’s Caveat: COVID-19 strikes those 60 and over the hardest. Even those over 50 are considerably vulnerable, especially with co-morbidities. Those of you who were fans of the TV police series Hill Street Blues might recall Sgt. Phil Esterhaus and his warning every morning to his officers at the end of roll call: “Let’s Be Careful Out There!” That applies to all of us in today’s COVID world.

The Village hung blue signs honoring our Class of 2020 graduates around town. Here’s to the future!

ComEd today announced that it is extending the suspension of disconnections and waiving of new late payment and reconnection fees until at least July 1. The news release is at: https://www.comed.com/News/Pages/NewsReleases/2020-05-28.aspx

We are still lagging a bit on the Census - only 74% of us have responded. Please fill out your census forms – and be counted!
