On 05-28-2020 at 7:58pm, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist on the grade in West Terre.(US Hwy 40) Preliminary investigation revealed that both the vehicle, driven by Ronald Heyen of West Terre Haute, and the bicyclist, were westbound on US Hwy 40 at Paris Av. The bicyclist was struck from behind as it was attempting to continue west on US Hwy 40, and the vehicle was attempting to merge to the right onto Paris Av. The bicyclist was airlifted from the scene by helicopter and transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. At this time, the condition of the bicyclist is unknown, therefore no further information is being released. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved. John Plasse Vigo County Sheriff
