West Covina Police Department Moving From Level 3 Tactical Alert to Level 2
DATE OF RELEASE: Sunday, May 31, 2020
The past few days we have been witnessing the civil unrest and looting that has been occurring in the county of Los Angeles and nationwide. In order to keep residents and businesses safe, the West Covina Police Department has moved to Tactical Alert Level 2. Tactical Alert Level 2 almost triples the amount of officers on patrol, per shift. This is done in order to protect the residents, local businesses, and department personnel. All department personnel will be assigned to patrol, some in two man units. The officers will be working 12 hour shifts on and 12 hour shifts off. In conjunction with the elevation to Tactical Alert Level 2, the County of Los Angeles will be implementing a countywide curfew from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This curfew will go into effect tonight at 6:00 PM on May 31, 2020. All citizens shall remain indoors during these hours. The City of West Covina will be enforcing this curfew, anyone seen outside during curfew hours may be arrested in violation of this order.
