Sausalito PD Announces New Hi-Lo Evacuation Siren on Patrol Vehicles

Sausalito Police Department now has an additional way to notify our community about the need for immediate evacuations during an emergency. California wildland fires, landslides, and other emergencies over the last few years have shown us that during a disaster there are never too many ways to receive a possible life-saving alert.

During emergencies, the Sausalito Police Department will use multiple systems to inform you of a threat to your life or property. Currently we use tools such as Alert Marin, Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), Emergency Alert System (EAS), Nixle, and social media to provide critical information to the community. In addition to our other alerting tools, the Sausalito Police Department will now be using Hi-Lo sirens on police vehicles to notify residents of the need to evacuate when it is necessary.

Sausalito Police Department vehicles, along with other law enforcement vehicles within Marin County, have been outfitted with the new Hi-Lo siren. The Hi-Lo is a European-style, two tone siren is much different than the traditional sirens you regularly hear. The Hi-Lo siren will only be used in an emergency to alert citizens within specific areas of the need to evacuate.
