Central Marin Police now have an additional way to notify our communities about the need for immediate evacuations during an emergency.

All Central Marin Police Authority police cars have been equipped with a new Hi-Lo siren. This European-style, two-tone siren makes a very distinctive and unfamiliar sound. The Hi-Lo siren will only be used for immediate evacuation notifications in a large area and during an extreme emergency. In a small evacuation situation, or where there is more time available, we will continue to use the traditional methods of making door-to-door notifications.

The Hi-Lo siren is just one more way for us to notify you during an extreme emergency in your neighborhood. The new sirens do not replace other alerting tools like Alert Marin or Nixle.
