Suspect arrested for Wasco homicide
On Friday May 29, 2020, at approximately 8:30pm, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Juan Carlos Ortega, who was wanted in connection with the homicide that occurred on May 27, 2020, in the 1000 block of F Street in Wasco. Ortega was located in the area of Highway 99 and Woollomes Avenue in Delano, along with the vehicle. Ortega was booked into the Kern County Jail for the murder of Javier Ibarra-Ibarra.

On May 27, 2020, Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 1000 block of F Street in Wasco for a report of a possible homicide. When deputies arrived, they located a deceased adult male, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During the investigation, detectives learned 28-year-old JUAN CARLOS ORTEGA was the suspect in the investigation. A warrant for his arrest, charging him with murder, was obtained.
ORTEGA is described as a:
Hispanic male, 6'00" tall, 160 pounds, black hair, brown eyes.
Ortega is believed to be driving a light colored 4-door Honda Sedan with a dark colored passenger side door and hood (CA#5PRT838).
