Large amount of cocaine discovered during traffic stop in Bakersfield.

On June 3, 2020, at about 1200 hours, deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Metro Patrol Division made a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Brundage Lane and Vernal Place, in Bakersfield, for various vehicle code violations.

During the traffic stop, a Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside of the vehicle.  Deputies located 67 kilograms of suspected cocaine in the vehicle with an estimated street value of $5,360,000 and a handgun.  Members of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and Special Agents with Department of Homeland Security assumed the investigation. 

A search warrant was conducted after the traffic stop at a residence in the 5900 block of Woodard Drive, in Bakersfield. Investigators seized one AR-15, two shotguns, and three handguns.

Arrested was Gurpreet Singh Brar (30), of Bakersfield, for possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of cocaine for the purposes of sales, transportation of cocaine, an enhancement for possession of over 40 kilograms of cocaine, and miscellaneous vehicle code violations. Brar was booked into the Central Receiving Facility pending court proceedings.
