Voorhees Police Storm Update

Over the past two days the Voorhees Police Department has responded to a high amount of calls for service regarding storm-related and all other types of emergencies.

Several areas of our community have been impacted and still remain without power. Numerous traffic signals are without power and are being operated by the Voorhees Police Department's Traffic Signal Generator Program. Some traffic signals are out and unable to be temporarily powered. Traffic signals that are not functioning are to be treated as a four-way stop sign.

Several roads in our community remain impassable due to downed trees intertwined with live power lines and in some cases transformer boxes. Residents and business owners have sustained serious damage to their homes, vehicles, and other property.

The Voorhees Township Department of Public Works has been working tirelessly to cut and remove tree limbs, remove downed trees, and other debris from the roadways. We thank them for their assistance in helping our officers throughout the night.

Due to numerous live or unknown status power lines being intertwined with downed tress and tree limbs, Public Works has to work around some of the objects blocking the roadways until the utility companies arrive and de-energize the lines, transformers, etc.

The Voorhees Police Department's Emergency Operations Center was fully-operational during yesterday's storms and notifications regarding downed lines, utility poles, and transformers down or on fire were made immediately to PSEG and Atlantic City Electric. We are still awaiting an update from both of the utility providers regarding an estimated arrival time to assist with opening up closed roadways and restoring power.

Voorhees Police Officers, as they always do, have been patrolling our community to ensure the safety of our residents, visitors, and businesses.

Please limit travel today while our partner organizations work to clear up the damage from yesterday's sets of storms.

To report outages, view our webpage for utility company contact information, please do not call 911 to report power outages.
