Neighbors and Business Partners,
            You may be aware of two upcoming peaceful events within the City of Lapeer, both scheduled to take place on Friday,  June 5, 2020.  One event will be held at Cramton Park off Genesee Street at 12PM and the other at the Lapeer County District Library off Main Street at 5PM. 
There has been considerable activity on social media reference these two events.  Some of this activity may have caused you to have safety concerns. Please understand the organizers of these events are local people with ties to our communities, I have personally spoken with them and their goal is too simply raise awareness of current social issues while having a peaceful event.  There have been no verified indications that either event will be attended by persons or groups outside of our neighboring communities.  Please, if you plan on attending either event respect the rights of all persons to gather and peacefully exercise their rights to assemble.
Your City of Lapeer Police Department along with the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police as always work together to ensure the safety of our community.
