Incident: City of Rialto Curfew has been modified from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. until further notice
As a result of the rioting, looting and acts of violence seen throughout the County of San Bernardino and neighboring jurisdictions this past week, the City of Rialto implemented a citywide curfew on June 1, 2020. The Rialto Police Department deployed a large contingency of additional officers to safeguard businesses and protect our community. Our police officers have intervened in looting attempts at several businesses this week, preventing looting from occurring. As a result, multiple suspects have been arrested and booked into local jails. Due to the on-going support and cooperation of our residents and business owners, the city is now relaxing the curfew hours. Effective immediately, curfew will be set from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Please remain at home during the curfew hours. Rest assured, the Rialto Police Department will continue to ensure the safety of our community, businesses and properties.
Law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, and members of the media are exempt from the curfew, as well as people traveling directly to and from work or seeking emergency care. “The Rialto Police Department stands with our nation in solidarity in what we have seen in Minneapolis. We support everyone’s First Amendment right to free speech and will protect those exercising their liberties lawfully. However, the unlawful acts by criminals who prey on opportunities presented by peaceful protest will not be tolerated,” said Police Chief Mark Kling.
Remember to report suspicious activity, using 9-1-1 only for emergencies, and stay safe.
