Advisory

Information for Tomorrow's Demonstration

Tomorrow’s demonstration in Los Altos is expected to be peaceful and respectful. Although the City did not organize or sponsor the event, we have closely collaborated with the Los Altos resident who coordinated the assembly. The Police Department is proud to help in facilitating a peaceful assembly for the Los Altos community to respectfully voice their opinions while ensuring safety for all.

Chief Galea has acknowledged the march and recognizes our community’s concerns. The Police Department understands that the fear of the unknown has caused stress among business owners and residents but be assured we are fully staffed and ready to address any unfortunate turn of events. Criminal activity will not be tolerated.

EVENT DETAILS:

The march is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Los Altos High School. Demonstrators will begin the walk shortly after to Lincoln Park with the event expecting to finish at approximately 2:00 p.m. We anticipate that traffic will be heavily impacted in the area of San Antonio Road, Lincoln Park, and the Downtown Corridor. Los Altos Police will be escorting the demonstration for the entirety of the event.

We remind our community that the coronavirus pandemic is not over, and we are still working to 'slow the spread'. If you choose to attend the march, it is critical to practice physical distancing and wear a face covering as COVID-19 is easily transmittable.
