We want to let the community know that a peaceful vigil/rally is planned at the corner of Oak St. & Randall Rd. on Sunday, June 7^th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  We have been in contact with the protest organizer, who is expecting approximately 50 people with plans to sit or stand holding signs. The event is planned to be stationary and there will be no march.

The North Aurora Police Department wants our community to know that we support the public’s 1^st amendment right to assemble and we are committed to keeping the participants and the public safe during the event.  We will have additional resources available for traffic control and to be prepared if people with less than peaceful intentions show up.  We will have no tolerance for violence or property damage and will respond appropriately if needed, but we hope we don’t need to.

For people planning on attending, there is no public parking available in the area and people who park in private business parking lots are subject to towing at the owners expense.

We recommend that people not participating avoid the area as there may be traffic congestion.  At this time we are not recommending for area businesses to close.  During the event, we will be sending updates via Facebook, Twitter, and Nixle.
