SOUTH PASADENA POLICE ARREST WANTED PAROLEE FOR CRIME SPREE

On Friday, June 5, 2020, at about 6:30 a.m., the South Pasadena Police Department began receiving calls of a male pulling on vehicle door handles in the 1500 block of Rollin Street. At the same time, several victims were calling the department to report they were victims of thefts from their unlocked vehicles. A description of the subject was provided to the responding officers. The South Pasadena Police Department quickly arrived and located a subject matching the description in the 1700 block of Marengo Avenue. The subject saw the police arrive, then attempted to escape by running through backyards and hopping fences of homes in the immediate area. A perimeter was quickly established and the suspect ended up surrendering to officers at approximately 8:10 a.m.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old David Aguilar, a homeless man living in Highland Park. Aguilar is allegedly responsible for committing ten thefts from vehicles and being in possession of a reported stolen truck out of Los Angeles. He also confessed to committing several crimes that occurred in March of this year in the 100 and 200 blocks of Monterey Road. Three of the crimes he allegedly committed in March were the thefts of two vehicles and the burglary of a business in the 200 block of Monterey Road. Aguilar was booked for his crimes and transported to LA County Jail, where he is currently being held on a no-bail LA County Sheriff’s warrant and parole hold.
