On Friday June 12 from 4pm to 6 pm, our department is advising Port Vue residents to avoid the 15th. St. Bridge area for traffic concerns ONLY. A planned demonstration will be taking place in and on the 15th. St. Bridge. As of this notice, our department is not sure if the demonstrators will remain on the McKeesport side near Walnut Street. Our department has been in contact with the Pittsburgh office of Homeland Security and we have been advised this will be a PEACEFUL gathering from this group. This group has NO HISTORY of any aggression or violence. This notice serves as a TRAFFIC concern only, so PV residents DO NOT NEED to be alarmed. However, our department with assistance of surrounding police agencies will have a strong showing of police near the bridge during this time, so please do not be alarmed with the presence of many patrol cars & police officers. This presence is strictly for possible crowd and traffic control IF NEEDED. Please attempt to find alternate routes in and out of Port Vue during this time frame.
