Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that his deputies responded to a personal injury traffic crash on 06/12/2020 at approximately 1652 hours on M217 and Wayne St, Porter Township, Cass County Michigan. A vehicle driven by Aaron Russell, 26 year old of Elkhart, was traveling southbound on M217 when the second vehicle, driven by Ashanti Knight, 22 year old of Elkhart, had collided. Knight was traveling eastbound on Wayne St when she proceeded to enter M217 and both vehicles collided. Knight was transported by SEPSA Fire and Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for her injuries sustained in the crash. Seat belts were worn. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. Airbags did deploy when the crash occurred. This crash remains under investigation.
