ARRESTS AND CONFISCATION OF STOLEN MERCHANDISE/CREDIT CARDS/DRIVERS LICENSES
6/13/2020
On Friday evening at 10:18pm, Fairfax Officers responded to a report of a suspicious van in the area of Live Oak Avenue and Juniper Court. A resident reported seeing the van driving in the area with its lights out and the rear doors of van open.
Fairfax Officers arrived in the area within a minute of the call and located the van. They contacted two male occupants who stated that they were waiting for a girlfriend who lived on Juniper Court. The two males both had multiple outstanding warrants for their arrest and were arrested. The van contained multiple brand new “Coach” purses, multiple stolen driver licenses, identification cards, credit card and narcotics. The van had a “punched” ignition but was not reported as stolen. It was not registered to either of the males. Officers towed the van and confiscated all the suspect stolen items. We are trying to contact the owner of the van who resides in Oakland.
The two males arrested both gave residence addresses in San Francisco. Officers are still trying to determine if they actually do know someone who resides in the area or if they were in Fairfax for the purpose of committing crimes.
While investigating this, an area resident reported to our officers that there has been a dramatic increase of vehicle and foot traffic in the area of Juniper Court that may be associated with new residents in the area. It is not known if these two things are related.
The names on the stolen identification an credit cards do not appear to be associated with our recent mail theft spree from the Cascade Drive neighborhood.
We thank the astute resident who called the Fairfax Police Dispatcher which allowed our officers to respond and investigate the suspicious activity.
