Deputies arrested James McClain for being a felon in possession of a firearm

INCIDENT: PC 29800(a)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm and PC 25850(c)(6), Possession of an Unregistered Firearm
LOCATION: Highland Ave/Valencia Ave, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): James McClain, age 37 a resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On June 13, 2020, Deputy S. Rule, from the Sheriff's Central Station, conducted a traffic stop and contacted the passenger identified as James McClain. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm was located. The firearm was unregistered. Further investigation revealed McClain was a previously convicted felon. McClain is on active felony probation and is a documented criminal street gang member. McClain was arrested for PC 29800(a)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm and PC 25850(c)(6), Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and was booked into the Central Detention Center.
