A timely reminder about the Hi-Lo siren for evacuation notifications.

Saturday's series of arson-set vegetation fires in Corte Madera and Larkspur was frightening for everyone. Because of the immediate response of Central Marin FD, Central Marin Police, and the rapid support provided by our fire and law enforcement partners we had an excellent outcome. The fires were quickly contained, there were no injuries, no structures were damaged, and the arsonist was arrested.
All of Saturday's evacuations were accomplished by officers going door-to-door and notifying residents. Fortunately we did not need to use our new Hi-Lo siren notification system, but had it been a larger evacuation area or a fast moving fire, the Hi-Lo sirens would have been critical. If you have not heard it yet, please watch the video on our website at www.centralmarinpolice.org or cut and paste this YouTube link into your browser:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlSFt0-WzQM . We want as many people as possible to become familiar with the sound so that that you can be better prepared in an evacuation emergency.
We hope we will never need to use it, but the Hi-Lo siren means one thing only - evacuate immediately. When you hear Hi-Lo, it's time to go.
